Encourage a balanced, nutritious diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Include milk and dairy for calcium, and eggs, meat, or fish for protein. Limit sugary and starchy foods such as sweets, chocolate, and excessive bread to reduce the risk of cavities.

What should I do if my child knocks out a tooth?

Stay calm and locate the tooth. Handle it by the white crown portion, not the root. If possible, gently reinsert it into the socket. If reinsertion isn't possible, place the tooth in a cup of milk and bring your child and the tooth to our clinic immediately.

If treatment is needed — such as cleaning, fluoride application, fissure sealants, or fillings — we will explain all options and involve you in the decision.
Happy Gas (If Needed)
For anxious children or those needing extra relaxation, nitrous oxide ("happy gas") is available to make the visit comfortable.
Aftercare
We provide guidance on brushing, diet, and scheduling the next visit, helping your child build positive dental habits for life.

Bulk Billed Kids Dental Treatment — Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a Medicare-funded initiative providing dental care at no out-of-pocket cost for eligible children aged 0 to 17. Eligible children can access up to $1,158 worth of dental treatment over two consecutive years.

Who Can Get It?

To be eligible for this scheme, you must be claiming Family Tax Benefit Part A or similar. To find out if your children are eligible you can either call Medicare directly or contact us here at My Local Dentists by calling one of our clinics with your Medicare Card Number and we will be able to let you know.

What's Covered?

Under the CDBS, we can provide check-ups, cleans, x-rays, fissure sealants, fillings, extractions and root canal treatments. Orthodontic and cosmetic dental work is not covered under the CDBS.
