What Are Same-Day Crowns?
Same-day crowns are custom-made tooth restorations crafted using 3D imaging and CAD/CAM technology (computer-aided design/manufacturing) right in the dental clinic. They eliminate the need for temporary crowns and multiple visits.
At My Local Dentists, we use the CEREC system for our same-day crowns. CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic) is a novel state of the art technology that allows our dentists to create tooth restorations and dental crowns by scanning, designing, milling, staining, glazing and issuing a crown all in a single visit!
How the Process Works
Examination and Preparation
Your dentist will determine if a CEREC crown is the right treatment for you. If it is recommended that you need a crown, your dentist will start the process by administering local anaesthetic to prepare the tooth for restoration and then remove any weakened tooth structure or decay.
Digital Scan
Your dentist will use a 3D intraoral scanner to capture a digital impression of your tooth—no messy moulds required.
Crown Design
Your dentist uses the CAD software to design the crown to fit your prepared tooth precisely.
Milling
The CEREC machine mills the crown from a ceramic block—usually zirconia or porcelain with high-end cutting technologies using diamond burs for ultimate precision.
Placement
Once the milling is complete, the crown is checked for fit and bite, polished, and bonded to your tooth—all in the same visit.
Terms and Conditions

Frequently Asked Questions about Same-Day Crowns
Are CEREC same-day crowns as good as traditional lab-made crowns?
CEREC crowns are as durable as any traditional dental crown as it is made from the same ceramic material.
How long do CEREC same-day crowns last?
A CEREC same-day crown should last roughly the same amount of time as a traditional crown, which is anywhere between 10-15 years. To prolong the life of your crown we recommend maintaining good oral hygiene, and regular 6 monthly check-ups and cleans.
How much will CEREC same-day crowns cost?
